“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in.” Matthew 25:35
Recognizing that God has blessed us to be a blessing, the PUMC Food Bank serves as a means for us to share the overwhelming abundance God has showered us with. Pisgah’s food bank helps provide food, free of charge, to families in need within our area. It is our intention that they receive not only food for their physical hunger, but generous portions of kindness and grace to feed their spiritual and emotional hungers.
We assist approximately 20 families with their food needs on a regular basis and approximately 35 families during the Thanksgiving season. Our food bank distributes a turkey and all the fixings for any family that needs assistance at Thanksgiving.
Donations to the food bank can be left in the kitchen area clearly marked as food bank. During the shutdown due to COVID-19 some of our foods were damaged or destroyed. We are in need of rice, grits, mashed potatoes, flour, sugar, macaroni and cheese, corn bread mixes, and cake mixes.
Monetary donations are also welcome, just write “Food Bank” in the memo section of your check and place it in the offering plate.
Sign up to help distribute food or to help organize and prepare ahead of time. See Lynn Fox for more information.
In October, we will begin collecting for our Thanksgiving distribution. Look for more information in upcoming announcements.
Pisgah’s Food Bank is open every other Tuesday afternoon from 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm.
